natural Variscite / Green Turquoise w/golden matrix sterling silver Ring sz 10
I do not have any provenance on exactly which mine this came from, but it looks like Royston … Old pawn 1940s variscite (green turquoise) ring. The stone is a deep green with hints of lighter green, copper and golden matrix.
This is “rough” stone, meaning it does not have the super shine of fine gem-quality turquoise. It may be untreated (not stabilized) and the roughness of the stone would attest to that. I’m going to recommend this for special wear- not daily wear if you use your hands a lot.
Very simple design with an oval cut cabochon and split shank band.
No makers mark but you can see the tools marks on the underside, which appeals to me as being as non-commercial as you can get.
Size 10. Weighs 8 grams.
