Who is Bede Fay?

Pronounced BeeDee Fay.

Named in memory of my Grandmothers; Bede Fay reflects my family’s heritage of quirkiness, love for oddities, appreciation for the beauty in Earth’s creations, and objets d’art.

Bede (nickname for Beatrice) and Fay have passed on but they left a legacy for the love of hunting and gathering pretty things.

Grandma Bede taught me to find sea glass as soon as I could walk. Grandma Fay would plunk us down with her 1940s rhinestone button collections for the afternoon.

I think both women would have enjoyed rummaging through the piles of my various collections, and they would have applauded sharing via selling instead of just keeping it all for myself.

My name is Amanda and I’ve been interested in minerals since I was a kid. I remember my mom taking me to the quarry to poke around and my dad took me to the local gem shows to just stare at all the pretties. I’ve been rockhounding and collecting for over 40 years, and opening Bede Fay was a natural way to continue working with the materials I love.

The brick n’mortar store opened in March, 2025, at 619 East Passyunk Ave, Philadelphia, but as I work another full-time job, there are no set hours. We are open by chance or appointment.
